guanadrel
DRUGS
Alpha blocking agents, beta blocking agents, or
reserpine likely will increase the effect of guanadrel.
Tricyclic antidepressants - decrease effect of guanadrel on hypertension.
Indirect-acting sympathomimetics (ephedrine, phenylpropanolamine, and possibly
phenothiazines) can reverse the effects guanadrel.
Direct-acting sympathomimetics (norepinephrine) effects are increased by
guanadrel.
Over the counter (OTC) medications for treatment of colds, allergies, and asthma
containing sympathomimetics should not be taken without physician's advice.
Vasodilator use with guanadrel is not recommended because it may increase the
potential for orthostatic hypotension.
